CorneliuMontano
A commanding tenor whose career bridges opera, classical crossover and international popular music.
A distinguished artistic journey.
Born in Bucharest, Romania, Corneliu Montano pursued vocal studies in Canada, the United States and Europe before establishing himself in Quebec. His training includes work with Richard di Renzi and the celebrated soprano Virginia Zeani, as well as studies at Purchase Conservatory in New York, the Conservatorio di Mantova in Italy and the Academy of Music in Bucharest.
As a tenor soloist, Corneliu performed leading roles in works by Gounod, Menotti and Verdi. His artistic path later expanded beyond the opera stage through television competitions and major popular productions, including Star Academy 2004, where he was selected from more than 6,700 applicants.
He has shared the stage with internationally recognized artists including Lara Fabian, Samantha Fox, the Gipsy Kings, Helmut Lotti, Gino Quilico and Nathalie Choquette, and has appeared with the Laurentian Symphony Orchestra. His self-titled solo album reflects the ease with which he moves between classical repertoire and contemporary music.
